Before you started writing your book, what kind of research did you do to prepare yourself?

To write this book, I delved deep into research by visiting each story setting, bringing back detailed memories and writing detailed notes about every character in each story, ensuring authenticity and a realistic portrayal of the characters, settings, the truth and fiction in each story.

Did you pursue publishers or did you opt to self-pub?

I opted to publish this volume one of short stories myself, which offered the best opportunity to reach my readers effectively and authentically without external editing. These stories are a combination of truth and fiction so they had to come from true experience.

If self-published, did you hire someone to format the ebook version for you or did you do it yourself? Can you tell us what that's like?

I hired someone to format it. It is well worth it. She was excellent and met deadlines. She also incorporated changes quickly and easily. A very pleasant experience. She helped format the Ebook, Soft Cover and Hard Cover.

If self-published, how did you determine the price?

The price was determined by researching comparable titles and finding a balance between accessibility and fair compensation for my work.

Did you purposefully choose a distinct month to release your book?  Why?

I chose to release the book in the first part of April because it is a great month where book sale are high and people are gathering their beach reads for the summer. I believe this timely release will maximize impact.

How did you choose your cover?

I collaborated with a talented designer and provided them with my vision, which was then brought to life in a cover that perfectly captures the essence of the book.

Did you write your book, then revise or revise as you went?

I always start from the beginning, so there are lots of revisions. I either love it and leave it, or make slight changes. It gets me into the creative zone and deep into the stories, allowing each story to evolve organically through each draft.

Did you come up with special swag for your book and how are you using it to help get the word out about your book?

I am thinking of hats. I always wear hats for sports and it is a good conversation piece. I am trying one out now at pickleball and everyone asks me about it. I think this helps spread the word about the book.

What’s your opinion on giving your book away to sell other copies of your book?

Offering free copies can be a strategic way to introduce new readers to my work, hoping they will appreciate the story and spread the word or purchase additional copies.

What are some of the most important things you believe an author should do before their book is released?

It's crucial to build buzz by blogging, posting samples of the book and using a publicist if you can afford one. I also ensure the manuscript is polished, and establish a solid marketing plan.

What are some of the most important things you believe an author should do after their book is released?

After release, engaging with readers, promoting through multiple channels, and seeking reviews are essential steps.

What kind of pre-promotion did you do before the book came out?

I created a separate landing page just for the book which I shared worldwide - coming soon, to get on the release list, to buy it now. This helped build anticipation and excitement around the release.

Do you have a long term plan with your book?

My long-term plan includes volume 2 (in the works) and encouraging readers to solve the challenge,, ensuring the book continues to find new audiences and remains impactful.

What would you like to say to your readers and fans about your book?

I want to thank my readers and fans for their support and encourage them to join me on this journey, as the story is just as much theirs as it is mine.
